The College of Maritime Education at the University of Cagayan Valley prepares students for a career at sea. If you want to work on ships as a deck officer or marine engineer, these UCV programs give you the skills, training, and hands-on experience in maritime operations, ship navigation, and marine engineering systems to get started.

UCV offers two degree programs:

  • Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT)
  • Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE)

Program Overview

These Cagayan Valley university courses combine classroom learning with practical maritime training and simulator-based navigation exercises.

  • BS Marine Transportation (BSMT) teaches ship navigation, vessel handling, cargo operations, maritime safety, and bridge management.
  • BS Marine Engineering (BSMarE) focuses on ship propulsion systems, engine maintenance, maritime machinery, and onboard technical operations.

Students spend more than 40% of their time in simulator labs and hands-on maritime workshops, building real-world skills before onboard ship training. Graduates meet international maritime standards and are prepared for work on domestic and international vessels.
