The University of Cagayan Valley continues to strengthen its reputation in higher education innovation after receiving multiple recognitions in the WURI 2026 or World University Rankings for Innovation.

These recognitions highlight the university’s commitment to future-ready education, sustainability, ethical leadership, technology integration, and impactful research and extension programs that benefit students and communities.

The university’s WURI 2026 submissions were led by the Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President for Research, Planning and Development, and Extension (OVPRPDE).

Innovative Programs Recognized in WURI 2026

UCV’s recognized initiatives focused on practical learning, innovation, sustainability, and strong community engagement projects.

Sustainability and Environmental Innovation

One recognized initiative was Beyond Paper, a project that converts wastepaper into reusable and sustainable materials. The program promotes environmental responsibility while helping students apply engineering and research skills to real world challenges.

Another recognized initiative focused on sustainable development initiatives through a typhoon-resistant vertical farming project. The initiative supports climate resilient agriculture and helps address food security challenges in vulnerable communities.

AI-Integrated and Future-Ready Education

UCV also earned recognition for its AI-integrated education initiative, AI Integration: UCV Shaping Education and Society. The program uses adaptive learning tools and digital technologies to improve classroom engagement and personalize learning experiences for students.

The university further strengthened its commitment to future-ready education through innovative collaborative learning spaces and technology-enhanced classrooms designed to improve teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.


Entrepreneurship and Community Development

UCV’s entrepreneurship programs were also recognized through projects such as the UCV Enterprise Nexus and the U-SHOP Entrepreneurial Model.

Ethical Governance and Crisis Management

The university received recognition for promoting ethical research practices through its Institutional Review Board initiative. The program strengthens responsible research, accountability, and academic integrity across different disciplines.

UCV’s crisis response initiatives, including PULSEGUARD, also highlighted the university’s efforts to support healthcare resilience, emergency preparedness, and community safety during critical situations.
